FAQ for Private Kids Themed Party
Paint for Fun Melbourne Kids Birthday Party Paint in the Dark — Private Event Everything you need to know before your event |
ARRIVAL & PARKING |
Q Where is the studio? |
We are at 252 Graham Street, Port Melbourne — on the corner of Graham Street and Stokes Street. |
Q Where do I park? |
Parking on Graham Street is limited. There is plenty of free street parking directly opposite on Stokes Street, behind the studio on Turville Place, and throughout the surrounding streets. Always check signage for time limits. |
Q We're arriving by bus or limousine — where do we stop? |
There is a loading zone at the building entrance. Please use it strictly as a drop-off point and follow the signage. Guests have previously received fines for parking outside permitted times. |
Q What time can we arrive? |
Your host and one other person are welcome to arrive a little early to set up. Your full group should arrive at your session start time — please don't arrive too early as there may be an event finishing before yours. |
YOUR STUDIO |
Q Is the studio private for our group? |
Yes — your group has exclusive use of the studio for the full two hours. No other groups share your space. |
Q How long is the session? |
1.5 hours of guided painting plus exclusive studio time to settle in, do cake, and celebrate. Total studio time is 2 hours. Please ensure all guests leave by your end time as we have events following yours. |
Q Is the studio upstairs? |
One of our three studios is upstairs with no wheelchair or mobility access. If anyone has accessibility needs, please let us know and we will move you to a ground floor studio. |
Q How many kids can attend? |
We can host up to 45 kids across our three studios. Minimum booking for a private event is 12 children. |
WHAT'S INCLUDED |
Q What's included in the party package? |
Exclusive studio use, a qualified art instructor guiding every child step by step, all art materials (fluoro paints, canvas, brushes), aprons, a catering table and fridge for your BYO, and photos from the session shared afterwards. |
Q What themes can we choose? |
Under 12s: Under the Sea, Sunset Sunrise, Safari Animals, Taylor Swift / K-Pop / Wicked. 12 and over: Free Flow (everyone paints what they want with instructor guidance). Theme is confirmed in your pre-event form. |
Q What canvas size do the kids paint on? |
Each child paints on a 25x30cm canvas — the perfect size to take home and display. |
Q Do the kids need any experience? |
None at all. The instructor guides every child through the painting step by step. |
Q Are the paints safe for skin? |
Yes — all paints are acrylic and completely skin safe. Kids can add a little glow to their faces too if they like! |
FOOD & DRINKS |
Q Can we bring food and drinks? |
Yes — we are BYO. Bring the cake, snacks, juice, whatever you like. A catering table and fridge are provided. Please bring your own paper plates, napkins, cutlery, and ice if needed. |
Q Is there time for cake? |
Yes — studio time is designed to include painting, cake, and celebrating. Let your instructor know at the start so they can factor it in. |
Q Can parents bring drinks? |
Yes. Please keep alcohol to wine, beer, cider, and pre-mixed RTDs only. No spirits or shots. |
PARENTS & SUPERVISION |
Q Do parents need to stay? |
One parent or adult must remain present for the full session. We ask that no more than two parents stay in the studio so the instructor can guide the children freely without distractions. |
Q Can siblings attend? |
Yes — as paying guests. All attendees are counted in your final headcount. |
Q What age is the party suitable for? |
Paint in the Dark kids parties are designed for children up to 12 for themed sessions, and 12+ for free-flow. We can cater for mixed age groups — just let us know. |
MUSIC & PHOTOS |
Q What music plays during the session? |
We have curated studio playlists to keep the creative energy going. If you'd prefer your own music, create a Spotify playlist and share it with your instructor at the start of the session. Song requests are also welcome when time permits. |
Q Will photos be taken? |
Yes — your instructor will take photos throughout the session to share with you afterwards. If anyone does not wish to be photographed or included in our social media, please let your instructor know at the start. |
ARTWORK |
Q Do guests take their artwork home? |
Yes — everyone takes their finished painting home at the end of the session. |
Q What if the paint is still wet? |
You're welcome to leave your artwork to dry and collect it later. Write your name, the date, and your phone number on the back of the canvas. We keep paintings for up to two weeks after your session. |
GOOD TO KNOW |
PLEASE NOTE No table scatters, glitter, or confetti are permitted at the studio. These damage art materials and are very difficult to clean up. |
Q What should guests wear? |
Comfortable clothing you don't mind getting a little paint on. Aprons are provided but paint can occasionally find its way onto clothing. |
Q What if our numbers change? |
Let us know as soon as possible. Final headcount is confirmed 3 days before the event. Your invoice will be updated before final payment is due. |
Q When is the final payment due? |
The remaining 50% balance is due 3 days before your event. A payment link will be included in your pre-event email. |
Q What if we need to reschedule? |
Please contact us as soon as possible. Rescheduling is subject to availability and may incur a fee. Your deposit is non-refundable but can be transferred to a new date where possible. |
